Marcy and Dan Isdaner have been the owners and operators of Camp Mataponi since 1994. Their conviction is that being “hands on” and “in the trenches” as much as possible allows them to have a pulse on what is happening at camp from daybreak to lights out.
Each staff member brings with her a level of expertise in her respective activity. The majority of the Administrative Head Staff come back year after year while more than half of the counselors at Camp are returning camper/counselors and/or veteran staff members.
Marcy and Dan Isdaner have been the owners and operators of Camp Mataponi since 1994. Their conviction is that being “hands on” and “in the trenches” as much as possible allows them to have a pulse on what is happening at camp from daybreak to lights out. Early morning and end of the day meetings with divisional head staff and activity leaders allows Marcy and Dan to discuss the events of the day and focus on the needs of the campers and staff. Being in touch with the daily camp life at Mataponi is paramount to each summer’s success.
Both graduates of Boston University, Marcy and Dan initially pursued careers outside of the camping world, but quickly returned to what they loved best from their childhood: summer camp. Nurturing a close- knit family at home with their three daughters, they think, breathe and live camp every day of the year.
Together with a group of highly motivated and skilled staff members, they are proud to carry on the tradition of guiding campers through fun filled and action packed days that create precious summer memories and life long friendships.
The most important aspect of being a counselor concerns the relationships you help to develop with and among the campers with whom you live.
